The idea for BGS didn’t come from theory—it came from experience.
In building and navigating ventures across different markets, I saw firsthand how geography shapes opportunity. Founders with strong ideas and execution were often limited not by their capabilities but by their proximity to capital, networks, and visibility. At the same time, I saw ecosystems operating in isolation—Africa, the United States, and the diaspora—each with immense potential, but limited connection to one another.
What stood out most was the gap:
the absence of structured, trusted pathways between these ecosystems.
Black Global Startups was created to help close that gap.
Our focus is on building bridges between startup ecosystems across Africa, the United States, and the broader global diaspora—unlocking opportunities for founders to access capital, networks, and visibility beyond their immediate environments.
As an entrepreneur, I’ve spent my career building and operating ventures in markets where systems are often fragmented and trust is critical. That experience continues to shape how I think about ecosystem building—practical, connected, and grounded in real-world challenges.
Alongside this work, I’m currently pursuing an Executive MBA at the University of East London through Ducere Business School, where I continue to develop the strategic frameworks that inform how we scale this mission.
This platform is also part of a broader effort to document and understand how startup ecosystems emerge and evolve. Through a documentary-led research initiative, I’m exploring the stories, systems, and people shaping innovation across different regions of the world.
At its core, this work is about one thing:
building more connected, trusted, and inclusive pathways for founders globally.
